Anil Chandramani

Anil Chandramani is Chief Investment Officer & Global Client Service Executive, Chemicals & Fertilizers at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, based in Washington DC.  IFC commits between US$600 million to US$1.5 billion in new equity and debt investments each year in the Chemicals, Petrochemicals & Fertilizers industry in emerging markets around the world, which supports billions of dollars in investments in the industry.   Among others, he was the Team Leader for the Meghani Finechem investment in India, which won IFC CEO's Annual Gender Award for FY13.   Prior to joining IFC, he was Vice President in Fuji Bank’s Project Finance Division in Singapore, and before that, Financial Economist in the World Bank Group, in Washington DC, where he advised governments on policy issues focusing on Private Sector and Financial Sector Development issues and on Investment Promotion.  Before joining the World Bank’s Young Professionals Program, he was Vice President and Regional Corporate Bank Head for Eastern India at Citibank, based in Calcutta, India.  He started his career in the Tata Administrative Service of the Tata Group of Companies in India after completing his undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.

Jidong Zhai

Mr. Zhai Jidong is Executive Vice President of Kingenta Group Company, the world’s largest slow and controlled release fertilizer producer and China largest NPK compound fertilizer producer and a public company listed in Shenzhen Stock Exchange (002470).

A 30-year veteran of the agriculture industry, Mr. Zhai Jidong was previously COO at Spur Ventures Inc., a public company listed in Toronto, Headquarter in Vancouver, where he led Spur’s business in China with a large phosphate mine and chemical complex integrated project.  Prior to Spur, he was Executive Vice president and Chief Economist of Sino-Arab Chemical Fertilizers Co. Ltd.(SACF).  He was formerly Board Director and Managing Director of Huaying Phosphoric Acid Co. Ltd., a joint venture company between Japanese ITOCHOU and Chinese CNCCC.

Mr. Zhai was Vice Chairman of the China Phosphate Industry Association, Director of the China Sulphuric Acid Industry Association and was Member of Hebei Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

Mr. Zhai is Senior Chemical Engineer and has Bachelor Degree of Science and Master Degree at Economics.

Grant Roberts

Dr Grant Roberts recently took up the role of chief agronomist for Yara Asia based in Singapore, 14 months ago.  His primary role is to provide technical and leadership support for the 11 countries that Yara operates within the Asian region.   His previous roles were as the Southern regional technical manager for Elders  in Australia and as the senior agronomist for Viterra, Australia.  Prior to working in the agribusiness  commercial sphere he was involved in agricultural farm consulting in Southern Australia.  The first part of his career was as an agronomic researcher for the national CSIRO and state departments and centered on cotton in Australia.  He was awarded his degrees and PhD in agriculture from the University of Adelaide.

John Hassell

Research Manager

John Hassell is the Research Manager, Global Innovation Technologies with Koch Agronomic Services.  Koch Agronomic Services manufactures and distributes the world’s most recognized urease inhibitor known as AGROTAIN® nitrogen stabilizer.   John works with a platform known as N-TEGRATION Technology and is responsible for worldwide research associated with this Technology.  This technology incorporates both urease and/or nitrification inhibitors in urea fertilizer to reduce nitrogen loss, resulting in an increase in nutrient use efficiency, increased crop yields and more money in the farmer’s pocket.  John has conducted research with urease and nitrification inhibitors for the past 11 years.  Using the knowledge gained through these research trials, John provides training to distributors, retailers and farmers on the benefits of using urease and nitrification inhibitors, reducing nitrogen loss, increasing farmer yields and helping to promote environmental sustainability.

John is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, is married and has two sons.  John currently resides in Austin, Texas.

Ravi Prasad

Dr G Ravi Prasad did his Doctorate in Agricultural Chemistry from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (Pusa), New Delhi.  He also did his Management Development,  Programme and Supply Chain Management programme from IIM, Ahmedabad. And Management from AIMA.  Recently he has completed Advanced Management Programme (AMP) from INSEAD, Paris.

Before joining Coromandel International Limited, Dr Ravi Prasad was working as  Vice President (Commercial) in Zuari Industries Ltd, Goa.  Prior to Zuari, he worked with Nagarjuna Fertilisers And Chemicals Ltd as General manager (Operations & Marketing).  Dr Ravi Prasad also worked with EID Parry and Coromandel Indag Ltd.

Dr Ravi Prasad is an invited speaker to Urea/Ammonia Pricing  forecasts, transportation of hazardous chemicals etc on a frequent basis at IBC Asia, Singapore and several other management schools.  He is also a guest speaker on current aspects of agriculture at Management Institutes like IIMB, IIMA & IIMK, World Bank Sponsored Seminar and seminars conducted by FAI, Govt of Andhra Pradesh, Govt of India, CII, Indian Chamber of commerce, FICI etc.

Dr Prasad is a regular faculty at NAARM, MANAGE and various Business Schools in India.

Robert Smulders

Mr. Smulders joined Stamicarbon (part of the Maire Tecnimont group) and the Fertilizer industry as VP of Innovation in 2015. His prior experience includes a variety of roles in New Business Development and Innovation focused businesses at DSM and Philips Electronics.

In his current role the most important fields are both in Incremental Innovation at Stamicarbon (e.g. Sustainability, OPEX and CAPEX optimization, lifetime value material engineering) as well as radical Innovation (adding new Technologies in new Customer fields) for the group. Recent examples of the latter are the Venturing project into Siluria (US) and the Open Innovation approach with NFT (US) and other partners into the field of coated Urea as well as Seedcore Urea.

Amy Yoder

Ms. Yoder is the CEO of Anuvia Plant Nutrients.  Amy has been in the agricultural industry for over 20 years, serving in key roles with Arysta Life Sciences, Monsanto, and Spectrum Brands.  Amy has served on boards with CropLife America and RISE (Responsible Industry Sound Environment) and is currently a board member with Compass Minerals and Vive Crop Protection.  Amy promotes agriculture through her directorship on the Clemson University Foundation Board as well as serving as President for the Sigma Alpha Foundation. Some of Amy’s previous roles include; President CEO of Arysta North America and President Spectrum Brands Home and Garden Division.

Luc Maene

Luc Maene graduated from the University of Gent in 1970. He joined the Belgian
Administration for Development Cooperation and was stationed, first in Tunisia,
followed by Malaysia. In 1980, he went back to Brussels and was involved in project
evaluation. In 1982, he joined the United Nations as the Team Leader of the Fertilizer
Advisory, Development and Information Network for Asia and the Pacific, based in
Bangkok. In 1987, he joined IFA and retired as its Director General at the end of 2012.
Luc Maene has been Vice Chairman of the Board of the International Fertilizer
Development Center (IFDC). He is past Chairman of the Board of the Fertilizer
Industry Round Table (FIRT). He is Past President of the European Society of
Association Executives (ESAE). He was awarded a Doctorate honoris causa in
Agriculture by the University Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2006. In 2014, he was a
Visiting Professor at the University Putra Malaysia. He is currently Vice President of
the International Fertiliser Society. Since 2013, Luc Maene is the Director of the
Luxembourg based consultancy company LM Agri Ltd.

Michel Marchand

Mohare Srikantha

Dr Srikantha is a doctorate in Agriculture, specialized in plant nutrition. He has got vast experience of over 25 years in the functional areas of agri. With his techno-commercial proficiency in identifying opportunities for new products and   effectuating market entry strategies, he has contributed immensely to practicing Integrated Nutrient Management and successful implementation of the same at farmer level. As part of this endeavor, he has been involved in awareness creation in this area of his interest by actively participating in seminars, symposia and conferences, as invited speaker and faculty, sharing his thoughts.

He has worked with Rallis India Limited, a Tata Enterprise and Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited, after a brief association with ITC Limited. Presently, he is working as Chief Operating Officer driving Specialty Plant Nutrients Business in the Adventz group.

Teferi Belayneh

Coming to Australia after studying in Egypt and completing his doctorate in plant physiology at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, Teferi brings a wealth of knowledge of the inner workings of plants.  Now heading up Omnia’s R&D effort in Australia and New Zealand, he has a rare ability to make the complicated understandable, and excels in his ability to identify the critical factors in crop performance. Dr Belayneh spends much of his life travelling the world as he also leads Omnia’s international exports.

Dale Edgington

Dale Edgington gained his BS degree in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University and began his career in the fertilizer industry in 1985. The first half of his career was spent in retail operations, marketing fertilizers, pesticides, seeds and related services to farmers in Michigan. Dale served as Agronomist for Crop Production Services in Michigan, ushering in the use of GPS guided technologies for soil testing and variable rate application of fertilizers. In 2003, Dale transitioned to the micronutrient fertilizer manufacturing business where he has been ever since. Responsibilities include purchasing and formulating various fertilizer products with the elements nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper, boron, iron and zinc. The business was owned by Agrium, U.S. Inc. until April of 2015 when it was sold to another long standing micronutrient manufacturer, Cameron Chemicals from the state of Virginia.

Oliver Hatfield

He has been an analyst of world N, P and K markets since 1995, preparing market studies, demand forecasts, cost profiles and analysing corporate and product cost competitiveness. He has travelled extensively, visiting fertilizer companies in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Oliver ranks in the top 10% of advisors to the financial community on the fertilizer industry. He is a graduate of economics and development economics from Manchester University in the UK.
