He has more than 20 years professional experience in the field of transport planning, housing, architecture, etc. He has authored more than 100 technical papers on various subject related to transport, passenger security, environment, infrastructure planning, etc. which have been published in various International and National Journals. He has also authored 10 Chapters on various topics in different books.
He is one of the trained trainers by the Institute of Urban Transport (India) for providing training for officers of various cities on subject modules of urban transport prepared through Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP) with support of United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP), World Bank and Global Environmental Facility (GEF).
He has also delivered keynote address, lectures, talks on various current topics in national & international seminars, conferences, short term courses, professional training programmes, etc. Presently, he is more focused towards various issues of planning and design of multi modal transport system, electric buses for passenger transport, rope-ways as public transport in hilly areas, etc.

Dr. Tapan Sahoo

A graduate in Electrical Engineering from UCE-Burla, Dr. Sahoo continued his academic pursuit along with his professional work and completed his MBA and Ph.D. from IIT Delhi.
His research papers in the areas of strategic technology management, xEV technologies and automotive product development have been published in national and international journals of repute. For his contribution in STM field, Dr. Sahoo has been conferred “Fellow” status by Society for Technology Management.
Dr. Sahoo is the Co-Chair of the Frontier Technology Group of SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers); the group engaged in policy formulation for Hybrid and Electric vehicles in India along with Govt of India.

M. Ravi

Ravi is currently working as Assistant General Manager in Regulations & Homologation Department, Product Development Division of Ashok Leyland Technical Centre at Chennai, India since 2010. He is responsible for all the regulations and standards related to automotive vehicles especially regulations on engines, emissions, fuel efficiency, fuels and alternate fuel technologies. He is the main contributor for the drafting of BS-VI type approval standard AIS-137 Part 4 for Heavy duty vehicles. He is key contributor in the fuel efficiency regulations for light, medium and heavy duty vehicles in India.

He has done his post-graduation in Agricultural Engineering from IIT Kharagpur with specialization in Farm Power & Machinery (Tractor systems Design) and graduation in Agricultural Engineering from TamilNadu Agricultural University. He worked in Escorts Ltd, one of the leading tractor company in Faridabad (Haryana), in the areas of Product Evaluation, testing, certification and regulations. Also worked in Tata Motors Ltd in Pune in the areas of Product Evaluation, certification & regulations.

Throughout his career, Mr. Ravi has been part of many rules making bodies such as Bureau of Indian Standards, ISO, Automotive Research Association of India, Ministry of Road Transport, etc. He is currently active member in BIS and Automotive Industry Standards committees. He is one of the key member in Society of Indian Automotive Manufacturers (SIAM) contributing to the vehicle regulations. He also represented India in various meetings of International Standardization organizations such as ISO and United Nations World Forum for vehicle regulations (WP29/GRPE) in Italy, France, and Switzerland as Indian Delegate along with Govt. officials.

Sathyanandan M

He has 22+ years experience in the industry with previous experience at Bajaj Auto Limited from 1996 to 2008, in engine R&D, engine design and development for 2stroke and 4stroke, carburetion and fuel injection system, engine management systems development.

He received a B.E (hons) from NIT Allahabad and an M Tech from ITT Madras. His areas of specialism include: combustion development, engine development, engine controls development He has been published in 8 international journals.

Anuradda Ganesh

Dr. Ganesh is currently the Director of Research, Innovation and Compliance at Cummins. Earlier to this, she was Director CRTI, which supported Analysis, and ALD for Cummins India as well as partly for Cummins Inc. She also led the Energy off-highway, for the Engine Business Unit.
Prior to joining Cummins, she led the Department of Energy Science and Engineering, at IIT Bombay, as Head of the Department (June 2009- 2012). Dr Ganesh was a Faculty at IIT Bombay for 25 years.

Dr. Anuradda Ganesh has a Ph.D. Degree in Chemical Engineering from l.I.T. Delhi.

She is a global expert and is well known in the area of Bioenergy, having over 1500 citations of her research publications. Her areas of expertise include gasification, combustion, and also application of these fuels and other conventional and non-conventional fuels in I.C. Engines, In addition, she has worked in pyrolysis, extraction of chemicals through supercritical fluid extraction techniques, synthesis of carbon nanomaterials, catalysts for esterification.. She holds several patents and supervised several doctoral and master’s thesis.
She is a member of the Energy Committee for TIFAC, DST and is a co-author of the Technology Vision 2035.
She has set herself a special agenda of doing good for the rural populace – towards this she has developed technologies in the area of energy and environment. These have been deployed to the interiors of Indian rural sector with appropriate demonstration and training provided to the villagers.

Another important project has been rural electrification - development of engine to run on straight vegetable oil which has been successfully demonstrated at a village in Orissa, Kolha, and has led to the "Most Innovative Energy Saving Product" Award under the CII National Awards for Excellence in Energy Management 2010. This was conferred jointly to IITB and Cummins Foundation.

Besides teaching, she has mentored many girl students across the Institute and Cummins over the years, and was also the Women Cell Convenor for three years at IIT Bombay, during which, landmark decisions were taken and Women Cell itself brought into better visibility.

Amongst other achievements - she was invited to address select Senate Members at Capitol Hill, USA on ‘The Road to Copenhagen: Energy Solutions for Emerging Economies’. She was conferred the ‘Best Woman Achiever for Excellence in Area of Expertise’ for the year 2012 by The Women Pilot Association.

Pamela Tikku

Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from NIT, Jaipur. She has been working in the Automotive Sector since 1992. She started her career with Rico Auto Industries and later joined Honda Siel Cars India Limited  and looked after vendor development and component development activities . She joined Society of Automobile Manufactures (SIAM) in 1999 and looked after various technical and policy issues related to the Automotive sector in India.

In 2006, she joined NATRiP and was involved in the planning and procurement of facilities for testing and R&D for NATRiP centers.  NATRIP project is funded by Government of India for Rs 3845 Cr. This included state of the art facilities in the emerging technology areas of Powertrain, Passive Safety, Fatigue, EMC, NVH, Infotronics, etc.  Has taken active role in finalizing the supplier, benchmarking the facilities with global facilities.

In 2010 she took charge of the Powertrain  Department of ICAT, One of the leading homologation centres in the country  in addition to the equipment planning and procurement activities under NATRIP. Powertrain department capabilities at ICAT have been drastically enhanced to cater not only to the certification upto BS VI standards but also for the development and calibration to meet such regulations. In 2016 her role was enhanced to Chief Business Officer looking after business development and planning for ICAT.

She is active member of regulation formulation process for India for automotive industry and also has been representing India at WP.29. She has participated in various national and international seminars representing India and presenting the  Indian perspectives. She is an active member of SAE India  and  SAEINDIA NIS section and has held various positions in the executive committees.  She was also awarded by SAE Foundation in 2017.

Arghya Sardar

Arghya Sardar is a Scientist E at the Technology Information Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC), an autonomous body under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He has been working in TIFAC since 1997. He is involved with technology foresight studies in the areas of automotive and transportation; electric and hybrid electric vehicles and energy.
Initially was involved in the Homegrown Technology Programme of TIFAC, which supported scaling up of technologies from lab scale to semi-commercial scale. Nature of activities included nucleation, evaluation and assessment of projects.
During 2006-2012, he coordinated two panels of the Collaborative Automotive Research (CAR) as the Member Secretary: (a) IC Engine and Powertrain (b) Electric and Hybrid Electric Vehicles.

Presently he is leading TIFAC activities in the automotive sector, under the programme Technology Foresight for Automotive Research. A major activity under this programme has been preparation of Detailed Project Report for the Technology Programme under the National Mission for Electric Mobility.
Arghya Sardar did his B.Tech (Hons) in Energy Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (1995).
He has over 25 publications in various national and international journals. He received award for the Best Indian Paper on Safe and Smart Mobility at the 16th Asia Pacific Automotive Conference (APAC-16) organized by the SAE at Chennai in 2011.

He was Member Secretary of CPCB for more than 10 years (1998-2008). He also worked in University of Florida, Gainesville, USA on air quality management and control. He has vast experience in the field of Air and Water Quality Management, Industrial Pollution Control, Standard Development (Ambient and Source specific), Environmental Impact Assessment Studies, Fuel Quality improvements, Clean Technology, Waste Minimization, Pollution Prevention issues, Pollution Control in SSI units, Climate Change, Hazardous and Solid Waste Management.  He represented India in many International Meetings / Seminars / Workshops organized by UNEP/USEPA/WHO/World Bank/UNIDO etc.  Dr. Sengupta has published more than 250 technical reports while working in CPCB and also presented/publish more than 50 papers in National and International peer reviewed Journals.  He also guided M.Tech and Ph.D. students of IIT-Delhi, JNU, Delhi University etc.

His specific interest and expertise are in following areas; development of air quality standard based on health effects; air quality monitoring network both for criteria and toxic air pollutants; development of industry specific emission standard for various air pollutants; hazardous waste management and remediation of contaminated sites; co-incineration of hazardous waste in cement kilns; clean coal technologies and fly ash management; urban air quality management and source apportionment studies; fuel quality improvement for air pollution control; air and water pollution control for highly polluting industries; environmental impact assessment for developmental projects; implementation of CSR / CER / CREP; zero discharge from water polluting industries; management of common treatment facility (TSDF, CETP, CBMWMF etc.); vehicular emission control for air quality improvement. Dr. Sengupta took VRS from Govt service on Dec 1, 2008 at the age of 57 years after serving Govt for 34 years in various capacities.

In the State of Karnataka with a population of 62.5 million, he worked in various sectors such as Land Administration, Agriculture & Horticulture, Rural Development, Environment, Education and Transportation.

He holds master’s degrees in Political Science from the Jawaharlal Nehru University,

Mr N V Marathe, a graduate in mechanical engineering, started his professional career with Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune and currently heads the Power Train Engineering division.

With more than 20 years of experience,  Mr. Marathe has led several major engine R&D projects successfully, many of them have been commercialized.

His individual strength and expertise lies in cylinder head & port design, crank-train design, valve-train design, diesel engine emission reduction, etc for engines used in variety of applications.

Mr  Marathe and his team is currently engaged in the development of a state-of-art high specific power Euro-4/5, 3 cylinder CRDI diesel engine for Passenger Car application with spin-off designs for other ratings and applications.

He has authored several technical papers in International and National conferences.  He is an active member of Standing Committee on Emissions for Genset Diesel engines.

Dr. A.A. Gupta

Dr. Anurag Ateet Gupta is PhD in Chemistry from Lucknow University & MBA from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Dr. Gupta joined IndianOil R&D Centre in 1982 as Research Officer and worked in the areas of Lubricant Development, Additive Synthesis & Development, Fossil & Alternative Fuels, Fuel Adulteration Abatement Studies, Hydrogen Research, Environmental Studies, etc. His areas of specialization include product & process development in fuels related areas, chemistry & performance evaluation related to petroleum fuels & lubricants, besides issues related to general management.

He has to his credit, the Petrofed Innovation award, National Technology Development award for the development of indigenous Diesel additive besides three consecutive Golden Peacock Awards.

Dr. Gupta has been instrumental in the Development of award winning & commercially exploited Diesel Multifunctional Additive (DMFA), development of Delhi Driving Cycle, Devising an Innovative Model for Transportation of BS-III & BS-IV fuels across the country and designing of Product Quality Monitoring program for IOC products. He was also associated with Auto Fuel Policy 2003 and auto Fuel Vision & Policy 2025 and provided valuable inputs.

He is recipient of coveted Shradhanand Singh Silver Medal for his excellent performance in MBA. He has to his credit more than 100 national & international publications in peer reviewed journals, twenty (20) US & other international patents and twenty three (23) Indian patents.

As Executive Director at IndianOil R&D Centre, Dr Gupta was looking after research in Fuels & Additives with additional charge of Bio-fuels, Bitumen, Extraction & Distillation and Analytical Division. Dr. Gupta superannuated from IndianOil as Executive Director on 31st December 2015.

Dr. S.S. Thipse

Dr. S.S. Thipse is currently working as Deputy Director at the Power Train Engineering Laboratory at ARAI. He has done his Masters in Thermal sciences from Bradley University, USA and his Ph.D. from New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA. He has Research experience of over 20 years in the field of alternative fuel engine development. He is Chairman of BIS TED-26 committee on Alternative Fuel standards and convener of AISC panel and also serves as an expert in the committee of Department of Science and Technology (DST) and MNRE. He represents India on the ISO TC 22 and ISO TC 197 committees on gaseous fuel standards. He is Governing board member of SAE India Western section and life member of Combustion Institute. He has published 14 books, over 50 papers and has 6 patents to his credit.
