Mr. Hamid R. Alzayani a Baccalaureate in Business Administration from American University, Beirut holds position of Honorary Counsellor of the Republic of Albania in Bahrain. He is the Founding Partner of Al Zayani Investments, which has its subsidiaries such as Zayani Industries, Euro Motors, Zayani Motors, Zayani Leasing and Zayani Properties. He is the Chairman of Bahrain Welding Wire. He also Chair’s the Board of all the subsidiaries of Midal at their international locations, such as UK, Australia, Turkey, Canada, Kenya,  Nigeria and Mozambique. Hassan Omar

 Hassan Omar has over 18 years’ experience in the Cable Industry. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer for Ducab, the leading cable manufacturing company in the UAE.

Hassan spearheads Product Development and is a key member in the strategy setting process of the group.

Hassan is active in non-governmental organizations work in the capacity of Board Member of BASEC (British Approval Service for Electric Cables), UK; and Board member of Dubai Quality Group.

Alireza Kolahi

Alireza Kolahi is the Managing Director of Abhar Wire and Cable Company, Iran’s largest manufacturer of wires and cables and the CEO of Noorin Industrial Holdings, a privately held company with interests in trade and manufacturing. After attending school at Winchester College and obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Imperial and King’s College London in 1995, Alireza moved to Iran where he joined the advisory business of Ernst and Young providing consultative services to international firms operating in Iran. In 2003 he joined the family enterprise and was instrumental in managing AW+C’s transition following the passing of his father, the company’s founder.

Under his stewardship, turnover of Noorin has increased from USD 20 million to USD 150 million in a little under 10 years. Alireza has also branched out into new areas and is a co-founder of Sarava Pars, Iran’s first e-commerce VC. In addition to being a member of the board of DigiKala, the Middle East’s largest online retailer, Alireza has also co-founded companies active in retail, food services and construction industry

In 2009 Alireza became the youngest person to be elected to the executive board of the Iran Electrical Industry Syndicate, the country’s largest Industrial NGO. His track record in successfully and impartially representing the interest of member companies led to his election as President of the Syndicate in 2014. In 2015 Alireza was elected to the board of directors of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, holding the position of Vice-Chairman of its Trade Promotion Commission.

Mohammed Itani

Mohammed Itani CEO of Energya Cables Company, is a recognized leader in executive development having served a global client base since 2001. While working his way to the executive level, Mohammed has held a number of positions at increasing levels of responsibility, being in charge of Manufacturing, Quality Control, Plant Engineering, & Business Management.

 

Mohammed has been with Energya Cables for almost 15 years. His experience within the company spans many departments and areas; it has served as preparation for his current role as CEO, to which he was appointed in 2010.

Mohammed has many goals as CEO, including; providing great service to Energya Cables customer base, delivering quality products and services, promoting a positive work environment that employees can be proud of, and help in the realization of the company’s strategic intent while achieving targeted growth and becoming pioneers in high value products and process utilization.

Mohammed has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and a master degree in engineering management degree from the American University of Beirut and an Executive Master's in Business Administration from the University of Purdue and Tias Nimbas.

 

Currently, he is in charge of a group of companies in Saudi and Egypt consisting of Energya Cables Co, Jeddah Cables Co., Energya Cables International, Energya Power cables and Energya Metals Co.

Didier Lachenal

Chief Operating Officer, CIST
EDF Energy

Didier LACHENAL has an extensive experience in organization, governance and structure in Power projects.

This experience is key to foreseeing risks and opportunities through the full project lifecycle, to manage them, to coordinate the different department and functions and to ensure that all the actions taken come together into a coherent target for a successful Project.

Currently Didier is Chief Operating Officer at EDF CIST which is an engineering and consulting business unit in Power and Transmission Systems for EDF group and clients.  This business unit carries out engineering activities in system studies such as master plans and renewable integration, manages power transmission project from the feasibility studies to the commissioning stage, and provides support services in asset management.

CIST’s technical expertise and good industry practices have been continually updated and consolidated for more than 70 years to contribute to EDF Group’s performance. Each year, new projects contribute to that constant evolution.

Previously, Didier was the Conventional Island Project Director for 2 nuclear power station at HPC (Hinkley Point C), EDF Energy in United Kingdom.  He was accountable for the overall delivery of the turbine group, the generator and the power transmission of HPC including the grid connection which represent an investment of £1.6 billion.

 

Gabriel De Robien

Expert Engineer, High Voltage Cables, CIST
EDF Energy

Gabriel de ROBIEN has 5 years of experience in High-Voltage Equipment related to transmission power lines. His work mainly focuses on High Voltage and Extra High Voltage underground and submarine cables.

Currently Gabriel is employed at EDF CIST which is an engineering and consulting business unit in Power and Transmission Systems for EDF group and clients.  This business unit carries out engineering activities in system studies such as master plans and renewable integration, manages power transmission project from the feasibility studies to the commissioning stage, and provides support services in asset management.

Gabriel is being appointed EDF technical delegate in different Working Groups with EDF R&D. He is highly involved with CIGRE association, being the Study Comity B1 webmaster and also the French representative to Working Group B1.55 related to the testing and qualification of submarine cables. He contributed to several CIGRE and Jicable papers related to submarine cables.

Jeremy Featherstone

Product Development Director
JDR Cable Systems

Jeremy Featherstone is a Chartered Engineer, and is the Product Development Director at JDR Cable Systems Limited. JDR supplies subsea umbilicals and power cables, in particular inter array subsea power cables for offshore wind farms. JDR has two manufacturing facilities in the UK and from September 2017 became part of the TF Kable group of companies, which has substantial cable manufacturing capabilities within Central Europe.

Jeremy has worked in subsea cables for some 30 years. He started his working life at SMD on subsea telecom cable burial equipment, before spells at Global Marine Systems on telecom cable installation, and then Centrica Renewable Energy on subsea power cables for offshore windfarms, and now JDR, where he leads the product development team.

Edward Bell

Director, Commodity Research
Emirates NBD Bank

Edward Bell leads Emirates NBD's analysis of global commodity markets with a particular focus on the critical commodities for the economies of the UAE and wider Middle East. Edward is responsible for the bank's view on markets, including price forecasting, supply and demand and industry trends. Prior to joining Emirates NBD, Edward served as senior commodities analyst—covering energy, metals and agricultural markets—and as a Middle East economist for a leading independent economics consultancy in both Hong Kong and London. He is a regular speaker at energy events in the region and frequently sought out for commentary on market developments. Edward holds a Master's Degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Toronto and the IMC awarded by the CFA Society of the UK.

Philip Radbourne

Mr Philip Radbourne, Director of Wire and Cable Business from Integer Research. Philip heads up the wire and cable research team at Integer Research Ltd. He is one of the founders of the company. Philip has managed market studies, which analysed a range of products from power cables, magnet wire, LAN data cables to copper telecom and fibre optic cables. He has also worked on a range of products from power cables to LAN data cables. He worked with management in a number of cable companies, covering company strategy, market analysis and technical studies.

Xander Willem Pierik

Xander holds a bachelor degree in engineering and master’s degree in International Business from the university of Groningen, the Netherlands. After joining Prysmian Group in 2016, Xander successfully completed a Business Administration course on SDA Bocconi University in Milan, Italy.

Xander Pierik is the sales manager of Prysmian Electronics Middle East. Prysmian Electronics is the asset management department in Prysmian which integrates innovative electronics to power cables systems to enhance the reliability, performance, safety and asset longevity. This business unit carries out research and development activities in the field of applied electronics to give insight in the health status of electrical assets. Artificial intelligence and big data is supporting the end client with key performance indicators in the integrated dashboard systems.

Dmitriy Bodik

Senior Staff Engineer
UL International

Dmitriy Bodik is a Senior Staff Engineer with UL in the Wire and Cable Department. He has been a member of the Conformity Assessment Services section at UL working on Wire and Cable for over 21 years.

Dmitriy’s primary areas of expertise are in Copper Communications and Optical Fiber cables and cable flammability. He collaborated on many UL standards revisions and proficient in various national and international cable standards. He is a trained Quality Auditor and a Certified Lean Sigma Green Belt.

Dmitriy is currently UL’s program lead for European Construction Products Regulation (CPR) for cables.

Dmitriy holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering degree from Stony Brook University.

Lunfai Lai

Vice President and General Manager, Wire & Cable
UL International

L.F. Lai serves as Vice President and General Manager, Wire & Cable Division, of Underwriters Laboratories (UL). He is responsible for the development and execution of UL strategy in Wire & Cable industry as well as the business performance of UL’s Wire & Cable Division globally.

Prior to this, Mr. Lai had held various management positions at UL, including Vice President and Managing Director, Greater China Region, and Sales & Marketing Director, Asia Pacific, since 1999.  He took up his current position in 2009.

Before joining UL in 1999, Mr. Lai served as General Manager, Asia Pacific, for Hayes, a leader in the global modem and remote access server industry.

Mr. Lai graduated with a degree in electronic engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Sameer Abdul Salam

Business Development Manager – MEA

Sameer Abdul Salam, serves as BDM for Wire & Cable Division, of Underwriters Laboratories (UL). He is responsible for developing and growing new initiatives in the Middle East and Africa region.

Prior to this, he held various positions in UL, the previous one being UL’s Country Manager in Saudi Arabia. He also serves the business manager of Consumer technology business of UL in India prior to moving to the middle east.

Sameer Abdul Salam, graduated with a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Calicut University, India.

Bas Verhoeven

Director, Global Business Development
KEMA Laboratories

Mr. Verhoeven received an M.SC. degree in Power Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology before joining KEMA in 1991 as R&D specialist on digital protection systems for high voltage power networks. As of 1995 he worked as a consultant on international projects for high voltage power network design and protection. In 2000 he was appointed as manager of KEMA’s High Voltage Laboratory, which became the world’s largest commercially operated laboratory under his guidance. He was assigned as Director of KEMA Laboratories, including the High Power Laboratory and the High Voltage Laboratory, in 2011. Mr. Verhoeven now holds the position of Director for Business Development, Research & Innovation. He is a member of the Board of the NEC, the Dutch IEC, as well as Chairman of the international Short Circuit Test Liaison (STL), and has authored numerous papers on testing and certification of power components.”

Hong He

Innovation Engineer

Ms. Hong He received her Master of Science in Electronic and Information Engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University in China. She has gained experience of inspection services for electrical equipment after graduation. Since 2010, she joined DNV GL (formerly KEMA) as an inspector for high voltage cable and accessories testing. In 2013, she became a test engineer in high voltage laboratory, mainly focused on MV/HV cable, accessories or cable system type tests, power transformer and switchgear testing. Currently she is involved in the innovation projects for extending company testing activities including HVDC cable system type test etc.

Paolo Miolo

Sales and Marketing Director

Born in 1967, received the Doctor’s degree in Electrotechnical engineering from the Padova University in 1994.

Working for more than 20 years in the energy sector, after a technical training and experience in HV equipment he has started a commercial career in Coelme first and later on in Alstom Grid where he grow up to the role of country sales director. Since 2014 he is engaged in CESI as marketing and sales direct of the testing division, with laboratories in Milano, Berlin and Manheim.

Uberto Vercellotti

Born in 1959, received the Doctor’s degree in Electrical engineering from the Milan Polythechnic in 1984 and joined CESI in 1985. Working in CESI he has gained 30th years of experience in the cable sector where he has been engaged in testing different cables and accessories. He is involved in Standardization bodies like CENELEC and IEC e.g. since 2003 till now Chairman of IEC TC 89 "Fire hazard testing". He worked abroad, mainly in Europe but also in Azerbaijan, Russia, and Ukraine from 1998 till 2006.

He is now engaged in CESI Market and Product Development.

Brian Branney

Brian Branney is a seasoned international Sales and Marketing Senior manager with over 23 years experience in the Wire and Cable Industry.  Brian has worked for some of the leading names in the industry including BICC Cables, Pirelli Cables and Prysmian Cables & Systems in a variety of technical and commercial roles both in Europe and Asia.  Brian is presently the Marketing Manager for the Wire & Cable business at Borouge Pte Ltd.  Based in Singapore, Brian brings his considerable experience to business development and strategy across the rapidly changing markets in the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

Laurent Longuet

Managing Director, Middle East

Prior to joining Akuo Energy, Laurent spent 15 years with Total involved in the development and construction of international energy projects in Europe, Iran, Indonesia and the Middle East. Laurent moved to the renewable energy sector in 2010 to lead, within the frame of a JV with MASDAR, the construction of Shams 1, the first concentrated solar energy power plant in the Middle East and the largest worldwide at the time of its commissioning. After 3 years of developing the activities of SunPower in the Middle East - closing significant deals in Morocco and Qatar, developing a very large Solar project in Egypt, Laurent joined Akuo Energy in 2015. He is based in Dubai and leads the development of Akuo’s activities in the Middle East as well as Akuo Energy Services’ (AES – Akuo Energy' subsidiary dedicated to EPC activities) operations. Laurent holds a BS of Ecole Normale Supérieure (Paris / France) and a MS of Paris Tech (Paris / France - Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées).
