Heavy-Duty Diesel Engines
The current emission standards for new heavy-duty diesel vehicles in South Africa offer a choice between European, US, Japanese and Australian regulations. More specifically, certification of vehicles may be based on Euro II, US EPA 98, JE98 or ADR 80/00, with the choice left at the discretion of the manufacturer. These standards came into force in January 2006 for new models, whilst existing models were required to comply by January 2010.
