Background in diesel engine design and development for thirty years, previously employed by Perkins Engines and Rockwell International. Educated at Loughborough University with a degree in Aeronalitical Engineering followed by a Masters Degree in Structural Optimisation. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
