API – Kevin Ferrick (Licensing Program Manager)

Kevin Ferrick currently manages API’s Engine Oil Licensing and Certification System, a voluntary licensing program designed to define, certify, and monitor engine oil performance. The Program’s marks, the Service Symbol “donut” and Certification Mark “starburst,” help consumers identify quality engine oils for their gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles. Mr. Ferrick also manages API’s newest certification program, the Diesel Exhaust Fluid Certification Program.
Mr. Ferrick joined API as a technical editor in the Institute’s Refining Department in 1989 and became Managing Editor in 1992. Under his leadership, the Editing Group doubled the number of documents published per year. Mr. Ferrick became Industry Operations Group Coordinator in 1995, helping the Industry Operations Vice President manage issue response, standards development, and quality programs for the upstream, downstream, pipeline, and marine segments of the petroleum industry. Mr. Ferrick became the Engine Oil Program Manager in March 1998. His duties include the management of the API Lubricants Committee and its various work groups and task forces.
