Joseph Biluck Jnr, Director Operations & Technology, Medford Township Education Board
Mr. Biluck is a former certified master heavy-duty diesel technician with over twenty-six years experience in the field of heavy-duty fleet maintenance. He began his technical service career in 1981 first as a general line mechanic, eventually moving onto fleet management. His involvement with alternative transportation fuels and renewable energy technologies began in 1990.
In 1994, he initiated the process to secure State and Federal funding to support a heavy-duty alternative fuels demonstration project using biodiesel in a school bus fleet. Presently he is the Director of Operations and Technology for Medford Township Public Schools, a suburban school district in southern New Jersey whose fleet of 64 diesel school buses provides transportation to over 3,500 students. He is also the district’s new construction project manager, overseeing the district’s most recent 50 million dollar new construction and renovation program which contained many of the district’s energy efficient, renewable, and sustainable initiatives.
Over the past decade Mr. Biluck has shared his experience with biodiesel with various groups and organizations across the country.
Mr. Biluck is the recipient of the 2005 National Biodiesel Board’s “Eye on Biodiesel” award in the “Inspiration” category, the recipient of the 2007 New Jersey Governor’s Environmental Excellence award in the “Environmental Leadership” category and named “Alternative Energy Pioneer” by the US Department of Energy’s National Clean Cities program.
Medford Township Public Schools was named by the Environmental and Energy Study Institute as the recipient of their 2005 “National Clean Bus Leadership Award”. They are also the recipient of the 2007 New Jersey Governor’s Environmental Excellence award in the “Innovative Technology” category. Medford Township Public Schools is the nation’s longest continuous user of biodiesel in a school bus fleet.
