Rick Mihelic photo

Rick Mihelic’s experience includes 30 years in product development engineering, project management, systems engineering and engineering management.

It includes 18 years in commercial vehicle development for Peterbilt vehicles and 12 years in DOD, NASA and DOE development programs for Lockheed including Trident, Space Shuttle Life Sciences, and Superconducting Super Collider.

He is active in Truck and Engine Manufacturers (EMA) efforts on EPA/NHTSA Green House Gas rules regarding aerodynamics and physical testing. He is the aerodynamics lead for the Peterbilt/Cummins Department of Energy SuperTruck program.

He guides inputs to SAE Task Forces on Type II/III, coastdown test protocols and EPA’s SmartWay program.

He’s involved in full scale drag and mpg vehicle testing, scale wind tunnel testing and computational fluid dynamics.

Rick holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Portland, a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University and is an SAE member.
