Although the Indian government has confirmed the introduction of BS IV emission standards in 50 additionalcities by 2015, exactly when the full implementation of BS IV nationwide will come into force is still unclear. Asfuel quality has been the main obstacle to implementing tighter emission standards nationwide, what is thelikelihood of meeting BS IV standards with BS III fuel and meeting BS V fuel with BS IV fuel in the near future?What should the certification process be to implement this? If this is not feasible, then what is the alternative tointroduce the next stage of vehicle emissions legislation sooner? This panel will invite policy makers andindustry experts to discuss this issue and how India can move onto the next stage of the vehicle emissionscontrol roadmap.
