Japanese Cable Shipments Hit 32-Year Low in 2009
A range of wire and cable product sectors have been affected by the global downturn in manufacturing, and the Japanese economy has been one of the hardest hit by the slump in demand. The latest report from the Japanese Electric Wire & Cable Makers’ Association shows that domestic shipments of wire and cable fell by 11.3% year-on-year to 759,166 tons of copper through fiscal 2008 (April 2008 to March 20009).Â
